AI Use Statement

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has seen tremendous growth recently, and with that has come new concerns about its role. This statement is to ensure the transparent and ethical application of AI, and establishes boundaries about how Mindfulness Voyage does and does not utilize those capabilities.  In my view, AI can provide wonderful opportunities to bring people together, or create further hardship on humanity when used to replace the work of real people.

My choice is a simple one; mindfulness is best promoted by honest and genuine human experience, rather than from a dishonest and false imitation of it.  To that end, Mindfulness Voyage commits to the following:

  1. What People Do: All written and spoken content from Mindfulness Voyage is crafted by a flawed human being from my direct experience, training, personal practice, and continuing education.  The podcasts, web pages, social media posts, and other content are only created by a person, are never created through any AI tool, nor are they even scripted ahead of time.  This ensures what you get comes from authentic, shared human experience, perspective, and effort.
  2. What AI Does: While the content you read, hear, and see here is the product of a human being live at the time of creation rather than being scripted, the back-end technical tools of web development, recording, and other functions may have AI functionality that can help with your connection to the material.  This ensures the end result of the content created can be accessibly delivered to you as technology continues to evolve.

What This Means In Practice

While the content is created by a person, AI helps accessibility in various ways, often moderated by intentional human choice.

  • YouTube recorded videos can display Closed Captions.
  • Zoom can automatically translate live spoken English into subtitles of various languages.
  • RedNote posts often include English and Mandarin subtitles, and some spoken Mandarin coming from the original English speaking voice and video.
  • WordPress and its Plugins may have back-end AI functionality.
  • Various tools have back-end algorithms to process the content you receive.
