Episode 084 :: Nicole Franklin :: Mindfulness for Children with Learning Disabilities
Nicole Franklin
Nicole Franklin joins us to speak about the incorporation of mindfulness into the Better Emotional and Social Times or B.E.S.T. program run by the Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara Region.
Think back to what it was like being a kid in school. Some days good, some days perhaps more challenging. And as I think how my life would have been positively influenced by mindfulness as a child, I can only imagine the difference it may make for kids living with ADHD, anxiety, hyperactivity, or other learning disabilities.
Nicole Franklin is currently completing her Masters of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and also holds a Masters of Arts degree in Child and Youth Studies from Brock University. She is currently the Mindfulness Instructor at the Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara Region for their Better Emotional and Social Times (B.E.S.T.) program. As a result of developing her own mindfulness practice, Nicole has become passionate about introducing mindfulness to others, especially children. Nicole is hopeful that mindfulness will continue to be implemented into the B.E.S.T. program, as she has seen the positive benefits it has had on children with learning disabilities and ADHD.
